Max Charles Lindinger
On September 28, 2008, Max Charles Lindinger, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Max was born in 1943 and was raised in West University in Houston. He was active in Scouting as a child and carried those values he learned throughout his life. Max graduated from Lamar High School in Houston and attended Sam Houston University. After school, Max began his career in the Oil & Gas industry. Max joined his father in operating and running Lindinger Inspection Engineers, Inc. in 1963. Max was a lifetime member of the American Welding Society and served as its Chairman for the Houston Section from 1993 to 1994. Max was also a member of Houston Engineering and Scientific Society Club, ASTM, API, AIS and NAIL. Max has served as a pillar in the industry of Quality Inspection for the Petrochemical, Petroleum, and Energy industries since taking over Lindinger Inspection Engineers, Inc. in 1973.
In 1966, he met, courted and married his wife, Lynn. They raised two loving daughters, Monica and Angie.
Max spent his lifetime as an avid fisherman and hunter. His love of fishing took him all over the Gulf Coast and he finally found his fishing hole in Port Mansfield, Texas, where he was on the Board of Directors and served as President of the Mansfield Club. His adventurous spirit took him from South Texas to Africa, to Alaska, and Argentina but he was never more at home than watching his dogs work the fields during a quail hunt. When not on some adventure¯, he especially looked forward to his Sundays with his shooting buddies at Westside Sporting Grounds.
Max is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynn, by their two daughters, Angie DeRouen and Monica Townley, her husband Peter, and by his grandchildren Samuel Max DeRouen, Jacob Bryan DeRouen, Haden Charles Townley and Connorr Guy Townley. Granddad¯ will always be with them. He is survived by his sister Mary Lindinger Elliott and her husband Dudley, and his brother Joseph Lloyd Lindinger and his wife Marilyn. He leaves behind nieces Mindy Jo Lindinger, Melissa Lindinger Dotson and husband Russell, nephew Trey Lindinger and great nephew Mason Dotson. He is in death by his brother Lloyd William Lindinger, who passed away in March. Max and his brother battled cancer together, sadly both losing the fight.
Max never met a stranger and has many friends who are considered a part of his loving family. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2008, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3601 Milam St., with a private interment to follow.
We ask on his behalf, that instead of flowers that a donation be made in his name to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
